IT is seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time permanent

Cartographer

to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.This is a permanent position. This role provides support to the survey department with respect to the execution of charting and GIS deliverables for the survey component of desktop studies, marine route surveys, route engineering and cable installation projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for final production of all charting and GIS deliverables Design visually appealing and functional maps for clients Ensure all required information is received to prepare charting deliverables Verify all necessary charts are acquired and provided prior to installation operations GIS georeferencing, data transformation and generation of geodatabases Assist in producing route position lists, final reports and various other required reporting upon request Plot hard copy maps for vessels

Required Competencies:

University degree or technical diploma, preferably in and a minimum 3 years experience in an industry related field. Advanced ArcGIS Pro experience required, AutoCAD and Makai experience is an asset. Knowledge in programming languages such as Python, R, or JavaScript is considered an asset. Advanced understanding of geospatial data and how to manage it. Experience with marine geospatial data types is considered an asset. Understanding of cartographic principles such as map projections, scale, and symbology. Solve spatial and design challenges while adhering to project specifications Present complex spatial data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences Ability to draft, read, comprehend and interpret technical specifications. Ability to draft clear, complete and concise reporting documents. Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal. Strong organizational and time-management skills. MS Office experience required.
