The Opportunity:

In the position of Carrier Sales, you are joining an established team of tenured and skilled individuals who are competitive in nature.

In this role, you will be assigned to a geographic region and partnered with a senior team member to become a geographic specialist in all aspects of transportation. Your day will include being on the phone making calls and wheeling and dealing your way to success. You will vet potential partner carriers and solutions and negotiate the best rate to meet the needs of your client. Your tasks will also include load tendering and operational follow up, both system inputs and/or verbal/email. You will be engaging both internally and externally at multiple levels and must have the ability to communicate appropriately. Comfort with using computer systems, including but not limited to Excel and industry specific software, email for written communication as well as verbal both in person and on the phone is a must.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Communicate and prospect with multiple Carriers daily to ensure successful coverage of freight in your assigned geographic region
  • Effectively negotiate truckload and less than truckload rates with customers and third-party carriers to achieve a profitable margin
  • Facilitate and execute on all aspects of the transportation cycle (plan, coordinate and monitor until completion)
  • Act as liaison sharing information and updates with Customer Service team members and assist with customer/carrier inquiries
  • Works closely with Senior team members to identify opportunities for strategic partnerships
  • Ensure all freight within your assigned geographic region is solutioned and in motion in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as required
What You Need to Be Successful in This Role:

  • 1-2 years Logistics Brokerage and/or Planning experience is an asset
  • Experience in Customer Service, Inside Sales or Telemarketing
  • Industry Expertise- transportation industry knowledge including, effective partner carriers, rates, the domestic and international market, terminology and, general knowledge of primary customer industries
  • A competitive desire to win
  • The ability to operate with a sense of urgency in a highly time-sensitive environment
  • Great negotiation skills - your specialty is closing the deal
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated accountability in your decision making
  • Effective communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
  • Analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities
  • General computer experience including but not limited to email, Excel and transportation software
