Carpentry is a skilled trade that involves the use of hand and power tools to build, install, and repair structures made of wood or other materials. As an instructor, trainer, apprenticeship instructor, vocational trainer, or technical trainer in carpentry, your role would involve teaching and mentoring individuals who are interested in learning the trade. Instructing individuals in the safe use of hand and power tools, as well as the proper techniques for measuring, cutting, shaping, and joining wood.
Developing lesson plans and course materials that meet the needs of different learning styles and levels of experience. Providing feedback and evaluating the progress of students in a constructive and supportive manner. Maintaining a safe and organized workshop environment, including ensuring that all tools and equipment are in good working order. Assisting in the recruitment and selection of apprentices or trainees, and coordinating the on-the-job training component of apprenticeship programs. Providing technical support and guidance to students or trainees who are working on projects outside of class time. Staying up-to-date with the latest advances in carpentry techniques, tools, and materials, and incorporating this knowledge into your teaching.
