About the Role

JAX Builders is seeking a Carpenter/Laborer to assist our Superintendent on both ground-up construction and renovation projects in Grande Prairie. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing company where hard work, initiative, and team culture are valued above all.

Who We're Looking For

Team Structure & Role Context

As a Carpenter/Laborer at JAX Builders, you'll be part of an on-site project team of 2-3 skilled professionals. You will work directly with and support the Site Superintendent, acting as their right-hand team member. This close-knit team structure ensures that communication is clear, decisions are made quickly, and work flows efficiently. You'll play a key role in the successful execution of day-to-day site operations, contributing directly to the quality and progress of each project.

We are looking for someone who brings strong hands-on construction skills and is eager to grow with our team. The ideal candidate will be motivated, adaptable, and a strong cultural fit--ready to contribute and take on greater responsibility over time.

Key Responsibilities

Install foundation hoarding, plywood walls, and light site concrete formwork. Ability to perform all general site carpentry required on a commercial construction project.

Perform door and frame installations, finish carpentry, and general site duties

Maintain site cleanliness, material organization, and assist with deliveries

Complete touch-ups, paint, drywall repair, and minor deficiency work

Follow construction documents and directions from site leadership

Adhere to all site safety requirements and JAX Builders Safety Program

Support basic site servicing or excavation activities as needed (if qualified)

Requirements

Valid driver's license and personal vehicle (KM reimbursement provided)

Proven experience in carpentry, general construction, or similar trades

Comfortable with hand and power tools; able to complete a range of tasks

Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor in all weather conditions

Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and work ethic

Willingness to travel to job sites (accommodation and per diem provided)

Assets (Nice to Have):

Experience with drywall, painting, stucco, or general building maintenance

Ability to read blueprints and follow technical drawings

Knowledge of basic plumbing or electrical systems

Skid steer operation experience and familiarity with earthwork or site servicing

Prior experience on commercial construction projects

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
