We are seeking a skilled Carpenter Superintendent to lead our carpentry team. The Position
oversees and manages a team of carpenters and ensures projects are completed in a timely and
efficient manner. They take charge of a wide range of tasks, from construction and repair to
leadership and administrative duties.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in both residential and commercial carpentry, capable of
managing a team, and committed to delivering high-quality construction work. The
responsibilities include coordinating the activities of a carpentry team, planning and scheduling
work assignments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing carpentry
projects from start to finish.
Following are some duties and responsibilities of the Carpenter Superintendent:
Supervise and instruct carpenters and labourers
Ensure that all materials, tools, and equipment necessary for the project are available and
properly maintained
Interpret and implement blueprints for woodworking projects
Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and adheres to the original design
Communicate with project manager about job progress and potential issues
Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed to maintain a safe work environment
Manage scheduling and labour allocation for optimal productivity
Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment
Participate in construction tasks as required
Train and mentor apprentices and new hires in carpentry techniques and safety practices
Ensuring that all work complies with building codes, Transport Canada Regulations and safety
regulations
Ordering materials and equipment required for the project
Resolving problems when they arise and reporting progress to manager
Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback to team members
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Carpenter Foreman or similar supervisory role
Proficient in using carpentry tools and equipment
Knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OHS guidelines
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and sketches
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Ability to communicate and report effectively
Good physical condition and stamina
Experience in carpentry trade. Ship carpentry will be a plus
