Overview

Our Facilities team is growing! We\xe2\x80\x99re seeking a skilled carpenter with experience in general office renovations and millwork and office renovations. If you are a service-oriented team player who enjoys working on projects that include the construction, removal, and repair of office walls and ceilings, we want to hear from you!

What you\'ll do

As a carpenter you will:

  • Construct and repair office including gypsum wallboard walls and demountable wall partitions, ceilings, doors
  • Install, maintain, and repair all types of furniture/cabinetry work and building components
  • Fabricate and produce a cutting list for all types of furniture/millwork and building components
  • Dismantle, reinstall and move modular furniture set ups within WorkSafeBC facilities and area offices as required
  • Occasionally construct and finish a variety of cabinets, wood fixtures, and furniture

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for someone who can:
  • Keep up with all pertinent technology and policy changes related to the carpentry trade
  • Prioritize, schedule, and monitor a workload independently and within a team, to meet desired objectives using established procedures in a safe and timely manner
  • Evaluate and analyze a variety of technical information, problems, and client needs and take timely, appropriate action to ensure a safe, comfortable environment
  • Work overtime on an as-needed basis
  • Occasionally travel to province-wide area offices to perform work
Your experience and educational background:
  • A British Columbia or Interprovincial Trade Certification as a carpenter or cabinet maker AND a minimum of three years of recent experience as a qualified carpenter, including experience in cabinet making and millwork.
  • Knowledge of building trades\xe2\x80\x99 functions, drawings, and specifications, as well as knowledge of inventory control and budgetary and estimating matters
  • General knowledge of basic computer applications
  • A valid BC class 5 Drivers\xe2\x80\x99 License
