MTL Contractors is looking for a talented carpenter to join our team. We are RBQ licensed general contractors who specialize in interior residential bathroom and kitchen renovations in Montreal. This is a full time permanent position. The position includes CNESST health and safety coverage, direct deposit paychecks with source deductions, paid statutory holidays, paid vacation that increases annually, uniform (company shirts, hoodies, etc) provided. - Preparation and protection of the jobsite (Ramboard, Zip Walls, etc)
- Framing and blocking walls based on plans
- Leveling ceiling with strapping / furrings
- Sistering joists and installing new subfloors
- Sistering joists to prepare for curbless shower (Schluter system)
- Replacing load bearing walls with LVL beams (Using jack posts to temporarily support structure, raising beam with cable lifts, etc)
- Installing trim, doors, millwork and mouldings
- Installing hardwood flooring or vinyl plank
- Full kitchen guts (new framing, blocking, subfloors, insulation and vapor barrier on exterior walls, prep for drywall, trim work after cabinets are installed, etc)
- Full bathroom guts (new framing, blocking, subfloors, curbless shower framing, niche framing, insulation and vapor barrier on exterior walls, pocket door, prep for drywall, etc)
- Kitchen and main floor reno (new flooring, load-bearing wall removal, LVL beam installation)
- Ability to read basic construction plans and measures
- Ability to frame walls and floors and strap ceilings
- Ability to operate a variety of power tools and equipment
- Ability to follow verbal or written instructions
- Ability to work alone or with others
- Ability to learn new work quickly
- Manual dexterity
- Physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position (This position requires manual and physical dexterity and stamina. Tasks will at times include lifting materials weighing 66 pounds, work on ladders, etc)
- Legal ability to work in Quebec
- Experience with carpentry
- Valid driver\'s license
- A vehicle in good running condition
- Two (2) years of experience as a carpenter; or
- Three (3) years of experience as a laborer in a carpentry environment; or
- Combination of experience and proof of abilities
- Flexible schedule
- On-site parking
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
