Carpenter



Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Facility Maintenance and within established policies, procedures and guidelines to provide carpentry services as required for construction, repair and maintenance projects.

Niagara Parks offers a rate of $37.25 per hour

as well as comprehensive benefits and a defined benefit pension plan.

This position is on-site in Niagara Falls, Ontario.



QUALIFICATIONS



Successful completion of the Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) for Carpenter (403A). Minimum of three (3) years of related experience. Valid Class "G" License. Working knowledge of tools, equipment, methods, best practices and procedures of the carpentry trade. Working knowledge of any applicable legislation/regulations including Occupational Health & Safety Act. Ability to work rom plans, drawings, written and verbal instructions; ability to carry out manual task. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES





Builds, maintains, alters and repairs a variety of wooden structures such as cabinets, shelves, store fixtures, floating and shoreline docking systems and custom built items etc. Provides installation and maintenance of structures, systems and support items such as drywall, steel stud systems, hollow metal doors and frames, door hardware including closures, latches and locks, glazing, floor coverings, suspended ceiling systems, etc. Constructs, installs and strips forms for poured concrete. Removes and re- shingles existing roofs using wooden and asphalt shingles. Repairs antique furniture and artifacts as required. Repairs and replaces truck & trailer wooden beds, sides and tailgates for the Horticulture and Roads departments. Installs and removes winter covers to park installations. Drives shop vehicles, delivering and picking up materials as required. Alters and repairs office furniture, chairs, desks etc. Report broken, lost or defective tools or equipment to supervisor. Repairs park benches, tables and chairs as required. Design, cuts and makes signs, as requested. Complies with all applicable legislation as well as any related policies and procedures.
