Carpenter (Multi-Skilled Tradesperson)



Carpenters at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Multi-Skilled Tradespeople use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a Multi-Skilled Tradesperson.

Responsible for...



The multi-talented Carpenter is skilled in the following ways:

Finishing work and fine details Cabinetry Installation, doors, trim, moldings, and baseboards, hardware Rough and trim Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts Drywall repairs: drywalling, taping, mudding, sanding and finishing Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim) Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing Insulation and vapour barrier installation Being awesome, in general! Framing

The Multi-Skilled Tradesperson brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a 'get it done!' attitude. Additional abilities required include:

Superior finishing skills Interior carpentry repairs Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers Ability to work well alone or in a team Experience working in construction environments Tools and the skills to use them Strong people and communication skills Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do A safety mindset Valid drivers license Ability to pass a criminal record check Ability to communicate in English

Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker) IICRC certification (restoration focus) WHMIS First Aid

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday. Are you comfortable operating a phone to navigate through applications and record info as instructed? If you are missing any in-home renovation skills on your resume, please list them here: We're looking for a Finishing Carpenter who takes pride in precision and detail. In this role, you'll handle the last, most important steps--installing trim, doors, cabinets, and custom finishes that make spaces shine. Please tell us about your finishing skills. This role calls for a versatile tradesperson who can restore homes after flood, fire, or other damage--handling finish, rough, and trim carpentry, cabinetry, drywall repairs, and more. Why are you the most qualified person for this multi-skilled restoration position? Are you able to work later than scheduled when required? A job may require an additional hour or two of overtime to be fully complete. Being available to work a bit extra to get the job done is helpful (vs returning the next day for a quick finish). Overtime is paid. This position can be physically demanding and requires a person to bend, crouch, reach, kneel, lift, etc. Are you capable of these activities? Are you willing to work and travel out of town when required? Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid.
Experience:

Finishing: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

Canadian Driver's License (required)
