Please note: This role is not part of a rotating on-call schedule and consists of standard daytime working hours only!

Carpenter (General Repair Technician GRT)

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

Responsible for...

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:

Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts Framing Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included) Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing Insulation and vapour barrier installation Being awesome, in general! Installation Doors Trim, moldings, and baseboards Hardware installation Cabinetry

Experience working in construction environments Tools and the skills to use them Strong people and communication skills Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do A safety mindset Valid drivers license Ability to pass a criminal record check Ability to communicate in English

Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker) IICRC certification (restoration focus) WHMIS First Aid

Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour

Are you proficient with cutting drywall, hanging, taping, mudding, sanding and finishing? Tell us about your experience. Please list your in-home carpentry/home renovation skills (anything from interior rough/trim carpentry to door hanging or installing interior millwork). Have you ever used fast-drying mud? Please describe your experience. Do you feel comfortable using an iPhone document and track your work day? This position can be physically demanding and requires a person to bend, crouch, reach, kneel, etc. Heavy lifting is also a job requirement. Are you comfortable with this?
Experience:

Drywalling and Drywall Repair: 1 year (preferred) Brush and Roller Painting: 1 year (preferred) Carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

Canadian Driver's License (required)
