Job Description

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our construction team and contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality commercial and residential projects. In this role, you will interpret plans and specifications, perform framing and finishing tasks, install structural and finishing components, and ensure all work meets building code requirements. The position requires strong technical abilities, precision, and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards on every job site. You may also support estimating duties and provide guidance to apprentices and other crew members as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Study plans, drawings, and sketches to determine technical specifications and calculate material requirements. Prepare layouts using measuring tools, considering building code requirements. Measure, cut, shape, and assemble elements made of wood, light steel, or other materials. o Erect foundations, install floor joists, lay floor covering supports, and assemble pre-assembled framing and roofing elements. Install suspended ceilings and drywall panels. Adjust and install carpentry elements such as doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware. Maintain, repair, and renovate wood and metal structures and buildings in residential and other facilities. Supervise apprentices and other construction workers. Prepare estimates for customers, as required. o Perform other related duties.

Skills:

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment. Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Good teamwork and communication abilities. Time management and ability to work under deadlines.

Qualifications (Required):

3-5 years of experience in carpentry or framing roles. Strong knowledge of wood and steel stud framing methods and tools. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Knowledge of Canadian building codes and safety practices. Valid safety certifications such as WHMIS or Working at Heights (asset).
