Role and Objectives:



The Carpenter Helper under the direction of the Panel Line Supervisor is responsible for building, restoring and/or installing structural woodwork and related materials. This position requires knowledge of the heavy construction industry. Specifically, the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety associated with this industry. The Carpenter Helper must be proficient at the following tasks: rigging CLT panels and glulam beams, installing timber fasteners and bolts, placing windows and doors, stain-grade trim work, and reading blueprints.

Responsibilities:



Fabrication & Construction Support



Assist in rigging and moving CLT and glulam beams using cranes, forklifts, and approved rigging equipment under supervision. Support carpentry tasks such as cutting, fastening, and assembly using power tools (e.g., drills, saws, routers). Assist with the installation of building materials including membranes and insulation. Support framing work including installation of basic components such as door and window assemblies. Help operate and maintain carpentry tools and fabrication equipment to ensure proper function and care. Handle, organize, and transport materials throughout the work area to support production efficiency.

Quality, Safety & Documentation



Comply with all Kalesnikoff health and safety protocols, ensuring safe work practices at all times. Maintain clean and prepared work areas to support safe and efficient operations. Participate in Quality Control System requirements by following specifications and reporting concerns. Document daily tasks and observations to support progress tracking and reporting. Ensure adequate material inventory is available by communicating needs proactively. Assist in the safe setup and removal of scaffolding or temporary access structures as directed.

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement



Receive and follow direction from Carpenters, Leads, and Supervisors with a positive and cooperative attitude. Support team members and other trades as required, within scope of abilities and training. Remain adaptable to changing priorities and contribute suggestions that promote productivity and process improvements. Understand and comply with all organizational policies and procedures. Perform additional related duties as requested or required.

Qualifications:



Education



High school diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED). Cabinetry or Fine wood working course/designation is considered an asset.

Experience



Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or production environment is an asset but not required. Experience using basic hand tools, power tools, or woodworking equipment is an asset. On-the-job training will be provided for all key tasks, including safety procedures, equipment use, and quality standards.

Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team. Must have a reliable method of transportation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Skilled in operating basic woodworking and fabrication equipment.

Compensation Package:



Salary: $29.36 per hour Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm. Extended health benefits including health, dental, vision, travel, Health Spending Account and RRSP program.
