Health Care Facilities Special Projects Carpenter - General Repair Technician (GRT)

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes in the Health Care sector. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

Responsible for...

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:

Special carpentry projects as assigned Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing Brush and roller painting Building, set up and poly on containments Demolition Abatement (mould and asbestos remediation) Emergency work Ceiling tiles Moving materials and/or furniture as needed

What you bring

The GRT brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a 'get it done!' attitude. Additional abilities required include:

Commitment to keeping a clean environment Experience working in construction environments Tools and the skills to use them Using previous knowledge and skills to problem solve/assess/create Versatility, willingness to help with any and all jobs Strong people and communication skills Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do A safety mindset: willing to wear PPE as required for the job, including full face masks (clean shaven face if applicable) Valid drivers license Ability to pass a criminal record check Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that'll help you be successful but isn't mandatory:

Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker) IICRC certification (restoration focus) WHMIS First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is not mandatory but a discussion to be had with the manager.

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour

This position is not restricted to Carpentry work in the Health Care Facilities, it will be a versatile role that will include abatement, mould remediation, demolition, drywalling, painting, etc.
