Reporting to the day shift Facility Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, installing, rejuvenation and restorative work, servicing and reconditioning all Building envelope and interior components, fixtures and architectural hardware items.

The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week falling between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., consisting of eight (8) consecutive work hours with up to a one-hour unpaid lunch period. The successful applicant will be paid at the Tradesperson rate as per the CAMA / OSSTF Agreement. The salary range is $ 64,207, to $ 70,353.

Layout and construction of stairs, handrails and ramps.

Installation and fitting of doors, window fixtures (sash), finish trim, sills and aprons, glazing and bug screens.

Construction of bearing partitions, beams, replacing joists, frames and associated structural components.

Installation, troubleshooting and repair of locking, closing and fastening architectural hardware.

Installation of and repairs to floor coverings such as vinyl and ceramic.

Proven ability to maintain the Board's facilities through the P.M. Program in such areas as caulking, waterproofing, doors and associated hardware, building envelope inspections, fire and Life Safety updates, etc.

Providing support for other members of the team during vacations or other absences.

Other related duties as assigned.

Valid Provincial General Carpenter certificate 403A or equivalent.

Five years' experience in maintenance and construction.

Minimum grade 12 (OSSGD) is required or equivalent

Knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS Regulations and Asbestos Containing Material regulations, transportation of Dangerous Goods (TOG) and safe handling of hazardous materials.

Ability to read and understand architectural blueprints and millwork drawings.

Knowledge in the safe application and use of a variety of hand and power tools and various shop equipment.

Ability to set up and organize own work site with a minimum of supervision keeping in mind our ultimate responsibility to the staff and students at each location.

Capacity to work within and add value to a Team based work environment.

Self-motivated and safety conscious.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to troubleshoot and forecast maintenance work.

Valid Class 'G' Driver's License with a clear and safe driving record. Board vehicle supplied upon signing of Vehicle use policy.
