Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Cargo Operations, the Cargo Agent/Receiver is responsible to receive, verify and inspect freight shipments from the general public and corporate customers. Prepare required documentation for the shipment of general cargo and dangerous goods.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Assist customers with bringing freight into the warehouse
Weigh and count freight shipments
Write up the air waybills and review the air waybill/shipping declaration with the customer
Process payments
Fill in air waybills and corresponding paperwork
Screen all cargo tendered to them for transport for the presence of prohibited items such as undeclared Dangerous Goods, illegal contraband and sabotage devices
Document all cargo screening conducted in accordance with document retention procedures
Effectively resolve customer complaints by identifying possible options and/or solutions
Ensure that all Dangerous Goods are declared; review the Dangerous Goods checklist with the customer and have the customer sign the checklist
Ensure that the shipper is providing all necessary paperwork needed according to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act
Ensure that charter freight is weighed and labelled properly and that an email is sent to Charters and Cargo with the AWB number and weight
Provide communication to Charter Connexions regarding charter customer freight
Label freight as necessary
Shrink-wrap loose pallets as necessary
Store freight in the appropriate location in the warehouse, by destination, fridge, freezer, DG or medical cooler
Quote customers rates for shipments of freight
Monitor and respond in a timely fashion to Cargo emails regarding freight from both customers and the call centre
Keep the warehouse neat, clean and organized
Verify inbound freight manifests
Verify and enter inbound freight and call customers for freight pick up
Oversee southbound AWBs
Organize internal Company mail for distribution
Assist with inventory checks
Prevent unauthorized access to secure cargo in storage and in the transport stream
Play an integral role in secure Air Cargo Program
Perform all other duties as assigned
Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must be able to qualify for and obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP)
Airline experience considered an asset
Proficient knowledge of Amelia computer system considered an asset
Customer service experience an asset
Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
Forklift license or complete applicable training considered an asset
Working Conditions
Physically able to perform all listed job duties
Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephone
Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions
Shiftwork may be required (days, evenings and/or night shift)
In good general health and the ability to lift and bend, carrying loads of up to 50lbs
Safety equipment when & where required e.g. hearing protection, safety vest, protective footwear, and applicable passes
