Bring your maintenance and cleaning skills to the Ontario Provincial Police, Kapuskasing Detachment where you will have a chance to showcase your skills! In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide cleaning and maintenance services for grounds, interior and exterior of buildings and vehicles, and arranging for building and vehicle repairs. To perform basic repairs and maintenance of operating systems, furniture and equipment.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. Major Trans Canada Highway routes pass through the region, and weather permitting, there are two ice roads that stretch to the James Bay coast.
OPP North East Region provides policing to over 190,000 permanent residents and to more than 400,000 people when including temporary/seasonal residents. There are thousands of pristine waterways, trails and picturesque landscapes that provide endless opportunities for year-round living, vacationing, sporting, and recreational activities.
Members of the North East Region pride themselves on the working partnerships they have with the four Municipal Police Services and four stand-alone Indigenous Police Services in the North East Region. The Town of Kapuskasing is a bilingual community located two hours northwest of the City of Timmins. Twenty-five OPP officers offer municipal policing services for its 8100 residents as well as marine, traffic, ATV and MSV patrols for the community.
Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, golfing, hiking, kayaking, fishing, camping and enjoying ATV excursions are all possible in the vicinity. Kapuskasing also has numerous parks and various organized sports, activities and recreational facilities including a cross fit gym, yoga and dance studios.

Knowledge of relevant sections of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Act that pertain to handling and storage of toxic chemical solutions such as solvents and cleansing agents, and safety in use of equipment.

Communication skills to contact various dealerships to schedule appointments, relay vehicle problems, and arrange for delivery and pick-up of vehicles sent for repair.
Interpersonal skills when dealing with officers in the allocation of vehicles while remaining aware of different operational priorities and scheduled maintenance requirements.
Interpersonal skills to schedule and coordinate work performed by external contractors.
Written communication skills to complete requisitions for equipment/supplies and maintenance materials.

Problem Solving
Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks to ensure vehicle is operational. Ability to identify requirements before sending out for servicing.
Ability to establish repair needs and mechanical problems in building, its operating systems, furniture and equipment and ascertains whether or not an external contractor is required to resolve problem.
Ability to make judgments in prioritizing schedule of activities to ensure that they are completed in a timely and efficient manner along with other daily responsibilities.
