Overview
We are seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a teen who will always experience life with a child's perspective, needing full assistance with mobility, daily routines, and playful engagement. She is nonverbal, does not walk, and cannot sit up independently. She enjoys watching Disney movies, music, outdoor time, going on outings, having stories read to her, and thrives when someone is fully present and engaged. The ideal candidate is gentle, compassionate, and committed to providing thoughtful care while helping maintain a clean, comfortable home environment.
During school hours, domestic duties form an important part of this role, including laundry, light housekeeping, and simple household upkeep to ensure a well-organized and welcoming space. The caregiver will also occasionally accompany her to her day program to support communication practice and range of motion exercises.
The home is equipped with a mechanical lift for safe transfers, an accessible outdoor area with a hot tub, and a gentle family dog who is very much part of daily life.
What You'll Do
Complete
light household tasks
during school hours, such as laundry, dishes, tidying, and maintaining cleanliness in shared areas
Provide full personal care support
, including hygiene, dressing, and puree feeding
Assist with
positioning and mobility, requiring full support and safe transfers
; ability to lift up to 50 lbs is an asset, as is experience using a mechanical lift
Support communication using Touch Chat
; prior experience or willingness to learn is essential
Engage through reading aloud, music, sensory play, crafts, and other interactive activities that foster connection and comfort
Spend time outdoors enjoying nature, fresh air, and the home's hot tub when appropriate
Prepare simple pureed meals and snacks for her
Occasionally accompany her to her day program to support communication and range of motion exercises
Be comfortable and kind with a gentle, well-loved family dog
Driving is an asset but not required; a van or SUV with wheelchair space is ideal for community outings or appointments
Provide occasional respite support on weekends or overnights
Maintain full attention and engagement during work hours;
personal cell phone use is not permitted
