Who we need: Our University is actively seeking a Career Services Advisor (Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology). The Career Services Advisor will support online Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) students as they transition from studies to employment related to their program. This role supports current MACP students to secure a practicum placement, and recently graduated MACP students to find a job in the counselling field. This involves one-on-one coaching; providing support and feedback on resume, cover letter, and interview preparation; along with educating students about navigating the Canadian labour market, researching practicum/job opportunities, networking, and understanding employment rights and responsibilities. - Employee and Family Assistance Program What will you do: - Develops instructor materials for career planning, employability, and job search skills workshops and webinars.
- Develops website content & participant learning materials and tools.
- Presents webinars, and workshops on career planning, employability, and job search skills.
- Provides job search/career coaching to support & assist students with job applications and preparation.
- Identify and form relationships with potential mentees and alumni mentors, and guest speakers.
- Liaise with MACP team to garner support and collaboration on meeting the growing needs of a rapidly expanding MACP student population.
- Identify opportunities for team participation in program design and delivery.
- Schedules one-on-one coaching sessions, mock interviews, and follows up with students.
- Maintains case notes in Salesforce, and records in Excel along with administering assessments and surveys.
- Remains current with local labor market trends, industry and employer needs, community resources, and employment opportunities.
- Shares job postings, focused on practicum and employment opportunities
- Participates in marketing Career Services initiatives What you bring: - Relevant undergraduate degree and Certified Career Development Practitioner or similar designation
- Two years of experience in career development or career education.
- Experience in a college/university career center or non-profit employment program preferred.
- Strong knowledge of career development theory and work search strategies and practices
- Certification to deliver various career assessments is an asset
- Education and/or experience in counselling or mental health would be an asset
- Ability to develop and facilitate workshops and webinars
- Proven research skills with the ability to analyze and interpret labour market information
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to quickly build rapport with others
- Excellent organizational, administrative, attention to detail, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of career-related concepts including employability, job search, labour market information
- Outstanding oral communication and presentation skills, in-person and online
- Excellent written communication skills, including writing and editing
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- Interest and skills in working with diverse student populations, in-person and online.
- Interest and skills in working with marginalized/disadvantaged populations
