TheCareer Services Specialistplays a vital role in bridging the gap between students and the professional world by facilitating internship placements and career readiness support. This position focuses on cultivating relationships with employers, identifying internship opportunities, and guiding students through the process of securing and succeeding in their placements. The Specialist ensures that all internship activities align with academic objectives and meet institutional and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Career Readiness
Provide individualized coaching to students on resume writing, interview preparation, and professional communication.
Assist students in identifying internship goals aligned with their field of study and career aspirations.
Maintain regular communication with students throughout their internship search and placement to ensure a positive experience.
Track and document internship progress, outcomes, and student feedback.
Employer Relations & Outreach
Build and maintain partnerships with local and national employers to develop internship and employment opportunities for students.
Actively reach out to potential host organizations to promote the college's programs and student skillsets.
Coordinate employer information sessions, networking events, and recruitment fairs.
Ensure all internship agreements comply with institutional policies and provincial regulations.
Program Coordination & Administration
Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to align internship placements with program learning outcomes.
Maintain an up-to-date database of internship hosts, contacts, and placement outcomes.
Monitor internship site quality and address any issues that may arise during placements.
Prepare periodic reports on internship activity, student placements, and employer engagement metrics.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Career Development, Education, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in career services, employer relations, or student advising (preferably in a post-secondary or vocational setting).
Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and virtual communication platforms.
Preferred Skills
Experience developing partnerships with employers or community organizations.
Knowledge of internship frameworks and labor regulations.
Familiarity with educational or private career college settings.
A proactive, student-centered approach with demonstrated commitment to supporting student success.

Pay: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
