Join our team and help us shape the future of how Canadians engage with the healthcare ecosystem.In the role of Nurse Practitioner at this remote mining site in Northern Canada, you will work within the Occupational Health Clinic to provide care to a diverse worker population, within a team that is passionate about wellbeing and safety. This is a fly-in, fly-out camp position with pick-up points in Calgary and Yellowknife. Candidates from other locations will be considered, particularly if they can easily travel to one of the pick-up points. Travel expenses to and from the worksite are reimbursed, and all meals and accommodations are provided at the work site.What You'll Do:
Provide urgent and emergency care to all patients seeking care in the clinic, in collaboration with the Medical Director and on-call Emergency Physicians and with the support of the Occupational Health Technician and Emergency Response Team
Provide occupational health services, which may include spirometry, audiometry, ECG, vision testing and more as part of the medical surveillance program
Record all patient encounters and document appropriately using the electronic medical record (EMR)
Communicate with onsite and offsite personnel to ensure appropriate patient care and safe return to work
Report workplace injuries according to the client's internal policies, and to the appropriate territorial/provincial bodies as required
Participate in the development and delivery of health education and wellness campaigns
Collaborate with client management and the broader TELUS team to drive improvements towards best practice and better health outcomes
You're the missing piece of the puzzle:
Current registration (or eligibility to register) as a Nurse Practitioner with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN)
Experience in Emergency, Critical Care, Remote/Rural, or Occupational Health settings
Advanced physical assessment and critical thinking skills
Current CPR, ACLS, ATLS
Team leadership experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills & relationship building skills
Commitment to delivering the highest standard in patient care and client experience
Ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Proficiency in the use of electronic medical records, Outlook, and Microsoft Office Suite
Great-to-haves
Experience and training in use of POCUS
Certification in Audiometry, Spirometry and DOT drug and alcohol test collection
Experience in advanced or supraglottic airway placement, suturing, conscious sedation
Experience with Occupational Health activities, including
Pre-employment and periodic medicals
Fitness for work assessment
Occupational injury reporting and classification
