About the Role
This role is primarily responsible for providing front-line support to clients calling into the Care Centre, assessing client needs and identifying the most appropriate supports available. The Intake Support Counsellor will engage directly with clients to explore presenting concerns, discuss goals, assess risk and safety when needed, and help get clients connected to services and supports in a timely manner. In addition to this clinical work, the role also involves following up on service requests, contacting clients about referrals, and completing related administrative tasks. The role involves collaboration with FSEAP Care Centre Counsellors and the Care Centre Administrative Coordinator, as well as other FSEAP employees, including Clinical Managers, Account Managers and the Affiliate Manager. The role requires the ability to manage telephonic client and affiliate contact along with detailed data entry, in a mental health service environment.

What do you need to succeed?
Education, Training, Experience
Minimum bachelor's degree in psychology or related field,
Minimum 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
2 years' experience in customer service assessing and supporting critical customer needs
Phone-based client support experience preferred
Training or experience in mental health, crisis intervention, or risk assessment preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge and experience in working with clients to address their mental health needs and other self-identified concerns, including the ability to assess risk and support clients experiencing mental health challenges or crises
The ability to recognize when to consult with a clinical supervisor or seek additional support
Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment (with many interruptions), while answering phone calls, booking appointments, and interacting with the public (via phone) in a tactful and empathetic manner
Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple team members, while modeling and promoting a team environment
Ability to quickly learn unique services and systems
Entering data, scanning and attaching documents in a client management database requiring superior level of attention to detail and consistency on a multi-user database
Ability to design and type documents and use spreadsheets
Mid to high level of competency using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Strong sense of idealism and desire to give back to the community
Strong communication ability
Ability to work independently and as part of a close knit-team
Additional Requirements
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (upon being hired)
