Position Summary
Provide quality testing in Cardiology Services by observing the highest standards according to established policies, processes, and procedures.
What you will be doing
Identifies abnormalities in test results and takes appropriate action; if necessary, seeks advice from appropriate resources
Monitor patient safety throughout the test, including using a defibrillator when required.
Perform Carotid Intima Media Thickness Testing (CIMT)
Ability to prioritize and make decisions affecting patient care. Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, while delivering the highest level of patient care
Personal qualities must include a high level of maturity, professionalism, respect for confidentiality and commitment to a superior level of customer satisfaction
Self-starter who demonstrates attention to detail, a high level of accountability and sound judgment
Works well under pressure and reflects a sense of urgency in completing time-sensitive tasks
Ensure infection control procedures are adhered to and revised/reviewed regularly
Performs routine and preventative maintenance, calibration, Quality Control and troubleshooting on instruments
Develops and follows SOPs in the completion of all duties
Participates in materials management, inventory management, safety management and quality assurance
Participates in the training of technologists
Participates in technical research and development activities and continuing education
Participates in test development and validation
Flexible, good organizational skills and sound judgment.
Ability to communicate clearly, teach, problem solve and organize
Ability to lead, work well in cooperation with co-workers and inter-professional practices.
You Have:
Education
Completion of a Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists recognized Diploma program in Cardiology Technology
Current certification/membership with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) and/or OSCT
Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy course
Current HCP CPR certificate
Experience
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience with stress exercise testing & resting ECGs
Minimum 2 years of advanced ECG and rhythm interpretation skills
Experience with the utilization of the Norav 1200w system
Experience with conducting testing on a treadmill and an ergometer
Experience with independent conduct of exercise stress testing & cardiopulmonary studies
Experience with EMR systems and ability to retrieve/upload results
Experience:
Cardiology Tech: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
CSCT (preferred)
