Job purpose

To provide high quality patient care while obtaining accurate and thorough test results

Duties and responsibilities

Perform electrocardiograms (ECG)

Apply and analyze Holter monitors

Perform exercise stress tests

Recognize urgent test results and report to appropriate physician

Respond appropriately to emergency situations

Ascertain a verbal history from patients and recognize critical signs/symptoms

Gather relevant patient history and vital signs

Provide exceptional patient care

Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team

Perform all job duties in a timely manner

Qualifications

Completed cardiology technology course or equivalent from an accredited school

Registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologist

Registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists Cardiology Technology

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Understanding of patient confidentiality in accordance to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP)

Working conditions

This position requires you to work in a fast paced and occasionally stressful work environment where multi-tasking and prioritization of duties is imperative. You must be able to take feedback from physicians and co-workers. You must be comfortable making critical decisions independently when required, especially in recognizing when outpatient symptoms and/or findings need to be brought to the attention of the attending physician.
