The Cardiac Sonographer utilizes equipment using comprehensive specialized education and accepted protocols to obtain diagnostic recordings of cardiac ultrasound images and doppler hemodynamic data with indirect supervision from the cardiac physician. The Cardiac Sonographer evaluates and records pathological findings, obtains measurements and calculations, then prepares a summary of the findings which is later reviewed by the Echocardiologist for final reporting. The Cardiac Sonographer discusses exams with the Echocardiologist using PACS and recorded information; maintains accurate patient files; records appropriate and timely information in the computer; maintains a professional attitude; and practices good patient care at all times. Specialized sonography skills, clinical knowledge and experience are necessary for providing advanced practice service to the adult congenital population, tertiary and surgical programs, research programs and the clinical training for residents and student sonographers. Cardiac Sonography staff rotate between five Nova Scotia Health Authority clinical sites on a weekly basis. Portable echocardiograms are provided for patient care units as needed. Cardiac Sonographers provide after hour call back service. The Cardiac Sonographer assists the Echocardiologist during transesophageal, dobutamine stress echo, exercise stress echo and contrast studies.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
