Command and operate ships or vessels to transport passengers and cargo Supervise and co-ordinate activities of deck crews Ensure safety and comfort of passengers Determine geographical position using navigational instruments, maps and charts Maintain vessel's navigational instruments and equipment Control, steer and navigate a vessel in various waterways Enforce regulations in Canadian waters Record vessel's progress, weather and sea conditions in ship's log
