Key Duties & Responsibilities

Deliverables

  • Works with other stakeholders to develop, recommend, and submit project plans and budgets during client planning cycles
  • Maintains alignment to client strategies, governance, communication, and risk management ensuring optimal performance of the capital planning team;
  • Oversees, measures, and monitors the performance of capital planning programs within a client fiscal year, KPI trending, and continuous improvement
  • Successfully achieves Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Performance Metrics (PM) as per Contract targets
  • Supports the establishment of proposed project list and project business cases development to meet client targets
  • Oversees the maintenance of capital planning database by assessment team and ensures data integrity to support regular reporting
Guides the selection, prioritization, balancing, and cancelation of project business cases involving numerous stakeholders to ensure alignment to the client\'s strategic goals and organizational priorities
  • Provides technical subject matter expertise in the development and enhancement of capital planning reporting systems and tools
Communication
  • Liaises with clients to identify proposed project list and program priorities;
  • Accountable for submission deliverables related to capital planning program requirements during client fiscal years
  • Provides client with recurring and timely program performance updates, as well as early identification/intervention of potential issues and risks;
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to continuously refine and implement asset assessment management processes and tools
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge & Skills
  • University degree in relevant field such as accounting, business administration, commerce, finance, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, building sciences or building engineering
  • 7-10 years of work experience in capital planning
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of asset appraisal and building science, including fundamental knowledge of the building envelope, building mechanical and electrical systems, and site components.
  • Thorough knowledge of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Procedure E2018-01 "Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments: Baseline Property".
  • Highly qualified to conduct building condition assessments
  • Seasoned professional, able to provide cost estimates for the maintenance, replacement and repair of building components and systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge of national building codes in place for commercial buildings.
  • Basic knowledge of general design, construction and operation of commercial building facilities.
  • Experience with commercial asset management software systems.
  • Ability to work in a team and provide direction to staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent computer skills, including the ability to learn new software programs;
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP) and / or Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), an asset
  • LEED Certification from Canada Green Building Council, an asset
