Job Description

Do you speak Cantonese fluently and enjoy helping others learn? We are looking for part-time teachers to provide private or small-group Cantonese lessons within their own community. Applicants must already live in

Kitchener, Waterloo, or Cambridge

as teaching takes place locally.

What the Role Involves

Lead in-person lessons at our school or occasionally at libraries and cafes Plan and deliver engaging lessons that fit each learner's goals and style Guide students actively during lessons and assign meaningful homework Provide feedback to learners (and parents, when applicable) Send short weekly summaries by email to track progress
Scheduling & Expectations

Teachers set their own availability but are asked to commit to a

course term

(usually 10 classes over 10 weeks) Sessions are scheduled weekly at the same time this week Reliability, responsibility and punctuality are at the utmost importance
Required Qualifications

Strong fluency in spoken and written Cantonese Ability to teach Jyutping pronunciation system Legally allowed to work in Canada Conversational level of English Current residence in Kitchener, Waterloo or Cambridge Some prior teaching, tutoring, or training experience
Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience teaching Cantonese formally or informally Knowledge of both Traditional and Simplified Chinese characters Awareness of dialectal differences (Hong Kong vs. Guangdong) Mandarin proficiency Teaching certificate or background in education

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 6 per week
