Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Canteen Worker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing and serving food in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation.

Duties

Prepare and serve food items according to established recipes and portion sizes. Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, including Micros POS, to process customer transactions efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and serving areas, adhering to sanitation standards. Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with patrons, taking orders, and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed. Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages as needed. Upsell menu items to enhance customer experience and increase sales. Follow all food safety guidelines to ensure the health and safety of customers.

Skills

Strong food preparation skills with knowledge of food handling practices. Experience with POS systems, specifically Micros POS is a plus. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment. Proven customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele. Background in the food industry or restaurant experience is highly desirable. Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing. Understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated in individual tasks.
