The Canteen Operator will be responsible for ensuring the Snack Shack offers excellent customer service to all members of the hospital and public, assisting with the vision of supporting vocational rehabilitation of patients, through mentoring, guiding, shadowing, developing skills development and independence, through a safe supportive environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
Ontario Secondary school diploma or equivalent
Lived experience with a mental health illness accompanied by the experience of finding a path of recovery
Previous Customer Service experience with familiarity operating a cash register and basic computer applications
Valid Ontario Food Handlers certificate
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)
Skills/Abilities
:
Strong Interpersonal and communication skills
Understanding of trauma informed care principles and able to apply within all relationships and interactions
Demonstrated enhanced advocacy skills and a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person living with serious mental illness required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)
Experience and willingness to provide skills training to patients at all levels of their recovery
Valid G license an asset
Available for call-ins within the specifications of the collective agreement
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
Must be able to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in our organization
Good attendance and work record is required
Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
