Currently involved in some of Canada\xe2\x80\x99s largest infrastructure projects, ACCIONA delivers solutions that contribute to the economic and social progress of the communities in which it operates.Based in Vancouver, as a Canadian Tax Specialist you will play a key role in growing our North America tax function to support all divisions (infrastructure, Energy, Water, and Concession) to achieve Acciona\xe2\x80\x99s corporate tax objectives. In this position, you will be supporting Canadian tax compliance, Canadian tax reporting, Canadian tax controversy, and Canadian tax planning regarding PPP projects, new energy investments, M&A, and cross-border transactions of the Acciona Group.Responsibilities:

  • Canadian Tax Compliance \xe2\x80\x93 Coordinate income tax compliance matters and other external tax reporting with Acciona North America finance teams. Monitor CRA correspondences and ensure internal documentation of all Canadian tax filings.
  • Canadian Tax Provision Reporting \xe2\x80\x93 Support internal tax provision reporting using SIGEFI software.
  • Support Canadian GST, PST and other indirect tax process \xe2\x80\x93 Coordinate with the North America finance teams to address and monitor Canadian GST, PST, and other indirect tax internal processes to manage tax audit risk and ensure timely tax filings.
  • Support Canadian and Cross-Border Tax Planning and Strategy - Research income tax and indirect tax laws and regulations to support PPP projects, new energy investments, existing operations and projects, and other special projects with Acciona\xe2\x80\x99s corporate tax team. Identify tax implications on cross-border transactions within the Acciona group.
  • Support Canadian Tax Audits \xe2\x80\x93 Work closely with Director, Tax North America to defend our filing positions and negotiate favorable resolutions of proposed assessment. Analyze and document tax settlement positions.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • BS in Accounting/Finance or equivalent, with a strong accounting background.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Canadian professional accounting designation.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Canadian income tax and/or Canadian indirect tax at a public accounting firm.
  • Experience in infrastructure and energy industry is an asset.
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality.
  • Motivated by growth, changing environments, adapting to various technical workstreams.
  • Proven team player and have the ability to work independently and deliver results.
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written.
  • Strong research, problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong computer and excel skills are required. Experience with sales tax software and/or income tax software and research tools is an asset (e.g., Tax Prep, Avalara, CorpTax, One Source, BNA Portfolio).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to interact with all levels of the staff within the Company
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Fluent in Spanish is an asset, but not required.
