Canada Summer Jobs Program
Marketing and Communications Assistant (NOC: Marketing Assistant)
Location: Flexible within Canada
For over 40 years, JDRF has been a global leader in the search for an end to type 1 diabetes (T1D), through both research funding and advocacy. During that time, we have always talked about a cure as a singular destination: a return to normal physiology.
But today, we realize that we are engaged in a process of curing T1D – that a cure is not just a destination but also a journey along a path. And we recognize that a part of our mission must be to help those living with T1D today to live healthier, easier, and safer lives until we arrive at the end of that path.
We’re currently seeking an enthusiastic Marketing and Communications Assistant to support JDRF’s Marketing and Communications team.
As the Marketing and Communications Assistant, you would be responsible for:

  • Assisting our graphic designer with the design of assets for web, print, digital and other event materials
  • Assisting with designing, creating and posting web pages and making updates to website
  • Producing and editing video content for social media purposes
  • Collaborating with team to generate new ideas for campaigns and programs
  • Assisting with coordination of event materials as needed
  • Assisting our social media coordinator with social media campaigns as needed.
  • Assist with website changes of copy
  • Assist with CRM data entry
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

This position is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program with funding provided by Service Canada. Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protections has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • And legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations (international students on a work/study permit are not eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program).

Our ideal candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education (in progress or completed) in Graphic Design, Video production, Communications, Web design, Marketing Administration, Digital Marketing or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience using MS Office Suite, Photoshop and Adobe Premiere is required
  • Experience using Illustrator and Adobe After Effects is an asset
  • Bilingual in English/French is an asset
  • Service-oriented
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to successfully interact with external stakeholders and staff within JDRF
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can thrive with remote supervision
  • Proven strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Availability Requirements: This position is 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, daytime hours (ie: 8:30am-4:30pm or similar). This is a temporary position for 8 weeks. The anticipated start date for this position is in July.
Work Location: Flexible within Canada; JDRF’s National Support Office is located at 235 Yorkland Blvd, Suite 600, Toronto ON, M2J 4Y8. Due to covid-19 related health precautions, all JDRF employees are currently working from home.
This position would be expected to work from home for the foreseeable future. The Marketing and Communications Assistant would be provided with a JDRF-issued laptop with virtual collaboration tools to encourage a positive work-from-home experience.
Compensation: $14.25 per hour (or relevant provincial minimum wage, if higher)
