LOCATIONS: Toronto and Montreal

Summary:

Experienced ESL teacher to work with international students on a University campus. A friendly and outgoing personality is very important! Overseas teaching experience and knowledge of a foreign language are also preferable attributes. We are accredited by ACCET and are a SEVIS approved institution.

Job Purpose:

The ESL Instructor is responsible for ensuring that students benefit from the academic program by providing the student with the necessary skills to become proficient in English through grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver ESL lessons to young adults or children as young as 8 years old appropriate to a summer school environment from Beginner to Advanced levels (average ages are 14-17).
  • Ensure and maintain proper levels of student discipline, welfare and safety of all students during the duration of the program
  • Assist the Center Academic Director in the testing and placement of new students in classes
  • Ensure daily attendance reports, progress reports and end of course reports are submitted to the Center Academic Director in a timely manner
  • Contribute to student\xe2\x80\x99s development of life skills
  • Attend and actively participate in all relevant staff meetings
  • Ensure that classes start and finish on time and that all teaching sessions are adequately prepared for
  • Complete end of course reports and certificates for all students
  • Submit detailed lesson plans to the Academic Manager no less than 1 week prior to the start of a new arrival week
Qualifications & Training:
  • Instructional staff must have at least a bachelor\'s degree with: (1) TEFL certificate (TESL Canada, CELTA, DELTA, approved TESOL cert)
  • Native fluency in English
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to demonstrate diplomacy, patience and flexibility
  • Valid First Aid and/or CPR certificate (Desirable)
  • Experience with continuous enrollment courses and weekly intakes (Desirable)

Training Days Activity Leaders / Teachers: Mandatory Thursday, July 6 (9-5) and recommended Wednesday, July 5 (12-5)

Camp Dates: July 9 \xe2\x80\x93 August 6 (candidate move-in dates, as well as start and end dates, may vary, and do not coincide directly with camp dates)

York Teaching Timetable: 3 hours of teaching Mondays through Fridays (9am to 10.30am and 10.50am to 12.20pm). If double banking, teaching is also scheduled daily: 1.50pm -3.20pm and 3.40pm to 5.10pm

Montreal - McGill

Training Days Activity Leaders / Teachers: Mandatory Thursday, June 29 (9-5) and recommended Wednesday, June 28 (12-5)

Camp Dates: July 2 \xe2\x80\x93 July 30 (candidate move-in dates, as well as start and end dates, may vary, and do not coincide directly with camp dates)

McGill Teaching Timetable: 3 hours of teaching Mondays through Fridays (9am to 10.30am and 10.50am to 12.20pm). If double banking, teaching is also scheduled daily: 1.50pm -3.20pm and 3.40pm to 5.10pm
