We offer a competitive salary with room and board included at one of our beautiful campus locations working with students from around the world. This position would be at our summer campus at York (Toronto) or Montreal. Please see embassysummer.com for more information about each location.

Job Purpose:

To lead and supervise course participants on off-site and on-campus activities and trips, meal times and bed times at the center. This position requires considerable amounts of walking on guided tours, carrying sports equipment from the center to sports fields and moving furniture in preparation for indoor activities.

Work Schedule:

The full-time work week is comprised of morning, afternoon and/or evening shifts, with at least one full day off per week; shifts may vary with split hours in the morning and evenings. This position can be residential or non-residential.

Residential Activity Leaders are full-time temporary staff. You will receive a compensation package that includes room & board, and a weekly salary (to be paid bi-weekly). Work consists of approximately 35 hours per week. In addition to your regular pay, you will be paid for any overtime hours worked at the applicable overtime rate(s) as required by law.

A flexible work approach towards the position with the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction in the leading and supervision of activities and trips at center and off-campus
  • Explain the activities to students and group leaders in a clear and positive manner and keeping them well informed
  • Be prepared to learn and LEAD activities and trips in the style of a tour guide
  • Contribute to student\xe2\x80\x99s development of life skills
  • Ensure adequate planning & preparation for all activities and trips, ensuring that activities start and finish on time, and clearly explaining meeting points and times
  • Enthusiastically and clearly guide and communicate to students about different sightseeing trips or city tours
  • Ensure and maintain proper levels of student discipline, welfare and safety of all students during activities
  • Inform the Activities Manager and/or the Center Manager about any problems or incidents during an activity or excursion
  • Carry out residential responsibilities, including meal and bed time supervision and guardian duties, check-in and check-out during weekends and linen exchange based on a rotation schedule
  • If necessary, assist with airport greeting responsibilities, which includes assisting the center management staff at the center to meet incoming groups or sending departing groups off to the airport
Qualifications & Training:
  • High School Graduate or G.E.D equivalent
  • 1 year experience working with or supervising minors (at a summer school or language camp setting; residential experience desired).
  • Good communication skills; good organizational skills
  • Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, patience and flexibility
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • First aid or CPR certificate (Desirable)
  • Lifeguard and/or coaching qualification (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of the local area (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of multiple languages (Desirable). Those with Mandarin language skills are especially encouraged to apply

Camp Dates: July 9 \xe2\x80\x93 August 6 (candidate move-in dates, as well as start and end dates, may vary, and do not coincide directly with camp dates)

York Teaching Timetable: 3 hours of teaching Mondays through Fridays (9am to 10.30am and 10.50am to 12.20pm). If double banking, teaching is also scheduled daily: 1.50pm -3.20pm and 3.40pm to 5.10pm

Montreal - McGill

Training Days Activity Leaders / Teachers: Mandatory Thursday, June 29 (9-5) and recommended Wednesday, June 28 (12-5)

Camp Dates: July 2 \xe2\x80\x93 July 30 (candidate move-in dates, as well as start and end dates, may vary, and do not coincide directly with camp dates)

McGill Teaching Timetable: 3 hours of teaching Mondays through Fridays (9am to 10.30am and 10.50am to 12.20pm). If double banking, teaching is also scheduled daily: 1.50pm -3.20pm and 3.40pm to 5.10pm
