Campus Security is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of the UWinnipeg community and of the University's infrastructure and information. The department works in close cooperation with the City of Winnipeg Emergency Services, local neighbourhood watch/biz groups and the surrounding community and organizations.Delivery of services is guided by a foundation of policy and procedures that recognizes the philosophy of the University of Winnipeg, emphasizing a safe learning environment while welcoming community access.



Campus Security seeks

two Security Systems Operators for full-time continuing

roles. The successful candidates will be responsible for the pro-active day-to-day monitoring and operations of Campus Security Systems, will conduct routine audits of systems, and provide recommendations.


Responsibilities:




Monitoring Video Wall and dispatching Security Staff to trouble areas. Reviewing Video Footage related to campus incidents. Produces reports of observations related to surveillance observations. Downloading and producing Master Copies of Video and / or digital data related to investigative matters for evidentiary purposes and distribution following appropriate chain of custody management. Monitors Video Management System and reports deficiencies (cameras, software) to the appropriate service provider for remedial action. Assists the Manager, Campus Security Services with research, evaluation and development of new and emerging technologies and determining their viability to implement. Monitoring Perimeter Security Doors through Genetec VMS platform. Assisting Facilities staff with the Perimeter Door Access Control System (cards, updates, programming). Actively monitors the Campus Security Alarm and Duress Systems. Performs safety checks for Safe Walk routes. Tracks suspicious activity and persons. Ensures radio chatter is current and relevant. Provides dispatch services to Security personnel. Work in coordination with other University Departments related to Security Systems Operations concerns. Works in coordination with the Facilities Security Systems Technician related to system software upgrades and / or patches as required. Trains Security Services personnel in the proper operation of campus security systems. Performs regular security audits and provides detailed reports on a scheduled basis or upon request. As required, produces evidence data by downloading video and or digital records from campus security systems and in accordance with established chain of custody requirements. Completes Security special projects/assignments as required. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:




High School Completion. Minimum 5 years' experience working within the security industry. Experience working within and knowledge of Post-Secondary operations is an asset. Minimum 5 years' experience with security systems including CCTV, Access Control, Patrol Tour and Incident Reporting. Experience with dispatching and working with two-way radio communications systems. Demonstrated experience in training others, inclusive of planning and deployment of training objectives. Above average computer skills and the ability to learn complex security systems and software. Proven ability to problem solve, inclusive of identifying issues and mitigating before they become more serious issues. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills. Excellent organization and time management skills. Attention to detail. Ability to work well independently and as a part of a diverse team. Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective relationships with various levels of internal and external stakeholders.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.




Condition(s) of Employment:




Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must have or be willing to obtain license requirements under the Manitoba Private Investigators and Security Guard Act. Must submit (current within three months) a Winnipeg Police Vulnerable Sector Check and a Province of Manitoba Child Abuse Registry Check or be willing to obtain prior to employment.

The salary range for these positions will be from $42,387.80 to $58,513.00 annually.
