Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Campus Planning ("Senior Manager"), the Campus Planning and Real Estate Specialist ("Specialist") supports the transformation of Sheridan campuses by providing technical, urban planning and real estate development expertise. The Specialist will be an active participant in the investigation, analysis and development of opportunities facilitating the implementation of the College\'s Campus Master Plan and in alignment with Sheridan\'s strategic priorities for growth, trailblazing innovation and community porosity fostering reciprocal relationships and strategic partnerships. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires strong skills in business case development, relationship cultivation and management, and leadership skills to manage initiatives across organizational boundaries to forecast real estate needs to fulfill Sheridan\'s strategic growth priorities. The Specialist will support a proactive, partnership approach to effectively collaborate and develop external partnerships with government organizations, industry partners and developers to create campus development plans and identify real estate opportunities.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll be Doing

Serving as the project manager and technical lead for campus master planning projects and strategies including developing scopes of work, developing procurement approach, managing consultant quality and engagement, engaging with stakeholders, initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing the projects;

Leading campus planning analysis and strategies including identification, appraisal, optimization, prioritizing options and developing effective campus plans. This involves appraising investment options, applying real estate portfolio management principles, urban design/planning, producing business cases for the acquisition of facilities and properties, planning for contingencies and developing and communicating campus plans;

Developing and presenting business cases for real estate investment and campus development opportunities including discovery, development of options, analysis of options, financial analysis and implementation planning;

Supporting the Senior Manager with strategy development, including analyzing strategic requirements, forecasting future user requirements and planning, developing and implementing campus planning strategies;

Performing other related duties, as assigned.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:

4-year degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Real Estate Development, Architecture, Engineering, Business, Construction or related field

5 years of campus planning experience, including experience implementing campus master plans (equivalency to be considered)

Knowledge of real estate industry best practices and their strategic applications

Knowledge and understanding of real estate investment and urban design principles

Knowledge and understanding of municipal land development approval processes

Solid analytical, research, analysis and synthesis of information

Project management experience

The following will be considered assets:
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation

Licensed member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA)

Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation

Real Estate designation(s) or equivalent

Completion of Real Estate development courses or certification
