About the Role
As a
Student Camp Nurse
, you will support the health and well-being of our campers and staff. Working under the supervision and direction of our Provincial Health Lead and our Senior Camp Nurse, you'll contribute to medication administration, first aid response, and medical documentation. This role is ideal for a
2nd or 3rd year nursing student
seeking hands-on experience in a dynamic and meaningful environment.
Key Responsibilities
Health Care & Medical Support
Assist in the initial health screenings of campers and staff upon arrival.
Support the administration and tracking of daily medications as directed by a supervising nurse.
Provide first aid under supervision and respond to minor health concerns.
Assist with maintaining accurate and confidential health records for campers and staff.
Help with medical supply organization, preparation, and sanitization.
Ensure all health spaces, including the infirmary and medical equipment, are cleaned and sanitized regularly in accordance with health and safety protocols
Evening on-call duties will be shared on a rotating basis among the nurses
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate any health concerns to the supervising nurse and camp leadership team.
Liaise with families and caregivers as needed under the direction of licensed staff.
Educate and support staff on basic health protocols, hygiene, and safety procedures.
Documentation & Protocol Adherence
Document health-related incidents and medication administration accurately and promptly.
Follow all established health protocols in compliance with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Easter Seals Alberta standards.
What You Bring
Enrolled in a
Bachelor of Nursing
or
Practical Nursing
program (2nd or 3rd year).
Proof of current enrollment
in a recognized Canadian nursing program (e.g., transcript or official letter).
Current
Standard First Aid and CPR-C
certification.
Interest or experience in working with individuals with disabilities or medical conditions is an asset.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented outdoor environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow medical and safety protocols.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
Full-time onsite at Camp Horizon in Bragg Creek, AB.
Workdays range from 8-12 hours; some shared on-call responsibilities in the evenings.
Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Meals and shared accommodations provided during camp sessions.
Mandatory attendance at staff training:
June 3-20, 2025.
Conditions of Employment

, completed prior to start date.
Valid First Aid & CPR-C certification.
Proof of enrollment in a recognized Canadian nursing program.
Willingness to work under the direction and delegation of a licensed nursing professional.
Ability to live on site from Monday - Friday
