Responsible for planning, scheduling, budgeting, directing and supervising safe, enjoyable, quality camp programs for all camp supervisors, camp counsellors, campers and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications




High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum 2 years related experience in a recreation/camp program or childcare environment. Previous supervisory experience. Possess a current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. Level C certificate prior to commencement of camp. Must provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Screen to verify suitability for employment. Provide proof of completion of the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certificate program prior to commencement of camp.

JOB DESCRIPTION





Position Summary






Responsible for planning, scheduling, budgeting, directing and supervising safe, enjoyable, quality camp programs for all camp supervisors, camp counsellors, campers and volunteers.




Responsibilities






Assists Recreation Programmer with preparations for the upcoming season of camp. Assists Recreation Programmer with preparation of bi-weekly timesheet submission. Plans and facilitates staff training sessions for all camp staff in co-operation with the Recreation Programmer and Camp Supervisors. Assists with the creation of weekly operating schedules for all camps. Ensures weekly newsletters for each camp are created and distributed to participants for the upcoming week. Assists Recreation Programmer by conducting thorough cost analysis of individual camps taking into consideration staff wages, revenue, supplies & materials and other camp expenses. Liaise with camp staff at their respective camp locations and oversee the day-to-day operation of all camps and ensures that staff on-site are operating safely and delivering lessons plans to campers in a positive and enjoyable environment, adhering to the Camp's Code of Conduct and the Corporations policies and procedures. Responsible for following all transportation procedures while travelling to and from camp locations. Responsible for the integration and instruction of campers with exceptionalities, special needs and/or physical or cognitive limitations. Responsible for the supervision, direction and evaluation of Camp Supervisors, Camp Counsellors, Camp Inclusion Counsellors and volunteers/leaders in training/counsellors in training and ensure all staff abide by camp and departmental policies and procedures and other applicable legislation. Responsible for completing required evaluation reports of camp operations, camp staff and volunteers under their direction. Ensures that accident/incident (including worker incident reporting) procedures are strictly always adhered to and sent submitted in a timely fashion. Answers all in person and telephone inquiries and responds to voicemails in a timely manner. Demonstrates a high level of customer service and provides this service on the front-line of operation and does so in an efficient, courteous and respectful manner. Participate in the Town's Health and Safety Program and follow safety practices in work methods and procedures; observes and complies with all relevant Health & Safety regulations. Immediately report all concerns, suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions to the Recreation Services Supervisor or designate.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to take direction well and work co-operatively with all levels of staff. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Previous administrative and customer service experience is considered and asset. Responsible, courteous, good communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently without close supervision. Effective conflict resolution, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent customer service skills to deal effectively with the public, participants, parents or guardians. Must be available to work flexible hours including daytime, evenings and weekends where applicable. Must be able to provide own transportation to and from assigned camp locations.
