Tasks

Determine the size of food portions and costs Plan menus and estimate food requirements for their realization Requisition food and kitchen supplies Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food Order supplies and equipment Supervise kitchen staff and helpers Clean kitchen and work areas Manage kitchen operations Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs Stock refrigerators and salad bars Scour pots and pans Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas Remove kitchen garbage and trash Portion and wrap foods Load buspans and trays Handle and store cleaning products Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment Prepare, heat and finish simple food items Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas Bring clean dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas and set tables Place dishes in storage area Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
