We are working with a growing mid-sized firm looking to add a Senior Assurance Associate!
Responsibilities:
Provide timely, quality services that exceed expectations, including coordinating audits of financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables
Develop an understanding of the client's business and needs, and become an industry specialist
ability to act as an in-charge on engagements
Collaborate with the engagement manager/senior manager and partners on engagement approach and execute on the plan using a risk-based approach
Recognize industry-specific and general accounting and auditing issues, including revenue recognition, financial instruments, and deferred tax provisions
Provide feedback on financial statements and prepare other client deliverables such as board communications, and deficiency letters, management letters
Supervise associates on engagement teams, including monitoring and reporting on productivity and adherence to work plan and budget
Anticipate and address client concerns - know when to escalate issues
Interact with clients to help ensure the information flow is effective
Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to manager/senior manager and partner on engagement
Identify performance improvement opportunities for team members
Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects
Education and Experience:
Minimum two to four years of current or experience in a public accounting
CPA Certification or demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA certification (successfully passed CFE)
Understanding of audit services with knowledge of ASPE, IFRS and CASs
Experience with goodwill, intangible assets, impairment issues, valuations and related assumptions, stock-based compensation, and equity a plus!
