We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Cafe Manager to lead our cafe operations. The ideal candidate will oversee daily activities, ensure exceptional customer service, and manage staff effectively. This role requires a strong background in food service, restaurant management, and team leadership. The Cafe Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and hospitality, creating a welcoming environment for guests while ensuring smooth operational flow. The cafe is located in Kahnawake and is open as early as 6 am and as late as 11 pm, depending on the day of the week.
Responsibilities
Supervise daily cafe operations, including food preparation, cooking, and serving
Manage staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
Oversee food handling procedures to ensure compliance with food safety standards (MAPAQ training and certification is mandatory within the first few months of employment)
Operate POS system for transactions and cash handling
Ensure high levels of customer service by addressing their needs and resolving issues promptly
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe and dining area
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers for timely stock replenishment
Implement health and safety protocols in accordance with industry regulations
Lead interviewing processes to hire qualified team members
Manage restaurant management tasks including budgeting, reporting, and maintaining operational efficiency
Experience
Proven supervising experience in food service or restaurant management roles
Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food industry standards
Experience with POS systems
Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on team management and hospitality excellence
Previous restaurant experience including kitchen operations and customer service roles an asset
Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures
Barista experience or hotel experience is a plus but not required
Experience in serving within the hospitality or food industry is highly desirable
