Central Valley Adult Learning Association Inc. (CVALA) is a charitable non-profit organization established in 2008, dedicated to advancing adult education and literacy in New Brunswick. Serving York, Queens, and Sunbury counties, CVALA provides free programs that improve access to education, foster social inclusion, reduce poverty, and strengthen the regional workforce.

Job Summary:

Provides a supportive learning environment that helps adults set and achieve personal goals. Works independently in a classroom located within a military setting, with regular team meetings held in person and online. Adapts materials to learner needs, maintains the Learner Registry, completes monthly reports, and offers ongoing support to help learners reach their goals.

This position works closely with active and releasing military members; therefore, knowledge and experience working with this clientele are highly valued and essential to the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver and facilitate adult learning to help learners achieve their goals, following the curriculum and using recommended resources. Provide academic support. Establish relationships and build rapport with learners. Review and correct daily work, and prepare learner evaluations. Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor learner progress. Complete administrative duties, including intakes and exit assessments, recruitment, maintaining learner files, responding to calls and emails, submitting attendance and monthly reports, and updating the e-registry. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom or work site. Perform other duties as assiged.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor of Education or a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline plus an Adult Education Certificate. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of related experience supporting or facilitating learning with adults. Relevant experience and transferable skills will be considered, and formal teaching experience is an asset.

Skills:

Able to facilitate both individual and group learning using varied teaching strategies to engage diverse learners.

Technical:

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with online databases is an asset.

Subject Knowledge:

Ability to teach Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading, and Writing, with a focus on adapting instruction to meet diverse learner needs.

Language:

Bilingual or partially bilingual, with a demonstrated interest and commitment to strengthening bilingual proficiency to better support learners in both official languages.

Wage:

$19.59-$25.71 per hour, depending on experience and credentials.
