Job Purpose

Working within the product development team, the Mechanical Engineer will actively participate in the design, manufacturing and integration of the various systems of an electric truck. More specifically, you will perform topological analysis, structural analysis (static, dynamic, crash, etc., vibration, CFD, Heat rejection) on single components to full vehicle model. You may also take an active role in real testing and working with data acquisition to validate, understand assemblies/trucks behavior and correlate data with simulation models.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act like a reference during preliminary design phase.
  • Ensure structural requirements are well known and mastered by the team
  • Produce simulation that will give knowledge input to the designers (topological analysis, vibration analysis & others)
  • Produce FEA simulation on preliminary designs and give active feedback to design team
  • Perform manual calculations as required
  • Compare modelled and measured behaviors as reference data become available
  • Produce final FEA simulation, documentation, and conclusion
  • Create and/or review reports, presentations and releases as required
  • Attend meetings, present results, and perform demonstrations as required
  • Propose improvements to enhance the design and manufacturing processes.
  • Contribute to the development of novel techniques in the field of dynamical modelling, vehicle dynamics simulation, and vehicle dynamics assessment practices
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering or other pertinent engineering discipline required
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Member of the Ordre des Ing\xc3\xa9nieurs du Quebec (OIQ)
  • Experience in 3D design and technical drawing (Solidworks and/or NX).
  • Experience with commercial FEA tools like Ansys Workbench, Hyperworks (Hypermesh, Optistruct, Radioss), Abaqus or other
  • Ability to manage interpersonal and supplier relations.
  • Experience in electric vehicle design is an asset.
  • Experience in personnel and/or project management is an asset.
  • High level of interest in electric vehicle engineering
  • High level of interest in simulation
  • High level of interest in learning new tools (Topology, CFD, EMI, etc.)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective problems solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Bilingual - Fluent in both English and French
