Ideal Candidate:



Education & Experience



Educational Background:

Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Drafting/Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.

Work Experience:

1-3 years of professional experience in technical drafting, specifically within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Industry Certification:

Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in AutoCAD

Technical Skills



Software Mastery:

Proficiency in

AutoCAD 2012

or greater Strong proficiency in

Fusion360

for flat patterns and forming PDFs. Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Kumar, SAP) for production tracking and data entry.

CNC & Plasma Programming:

Experience generating

DXF cut-ready files

and creating G-code for CNC plasma cutters. Knowledge of

nesting techniques

to optimize material utilization. Ability to set cut sequences, lead-ins/outs, and adjust bevel settings based on test results.

Technical Knowledge:



Advanced understanding of

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

. Proficiency in reading Mill Test Reports (MTR) and interpreting complex blueprints/shop drawings. Solid mathematical aptitude, particularly in geometry and trigonometry, for precise dimensioning.

A primary focus on accuracy when checking drawings and verifying material allocations to prevent production errors.

Collaborative Problem-Solver:

Able to work seamlessly with Engineers and Project Managers to troubleshoot program errors for floor operators.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines while coordinating with production schedulers.

Technical Communication:

Capability to provide clear instructions to shop floor staff and maintain accurate documentation.

Role Overview



As an AutoCAD Technician, you will collaborate with Engineers and Project Managers to develop technical designs and produce high-quality project documentation. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of drafting and programming, ensuring all output meets rigorous company standards and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities



Design & Drafting

:

Execute all aspects of 2D AutoCAD drafting. Generate DXF cut-ready files from real parts or cardboard templates. Develop flat patterns and forming PDFs using Fusion360. Create forming templates as required for production.

Production Programming & Optimization:



Program bevels and adjust settings based on sample results. Establish optimal cut sequences and lead-in/out placements to ensure maximum cut quality and operator safety. Perform "re-nesting" of parts to maximize material utilization and verify against quoted weights. Distribute cut programs to required tables and select appropriate amperage settings.

Quality Control & Material Management:



Verify material allocations (grades, sizes, and heat numbers) and ensure Mill Test Reports (MTR) meet job specifications. Review drawings and project documents for accuracy according to defined standards. Generate recut paperwork based on shop floor feedback.

Coordination & Workflow:



Partner with the Scheduler to ensure orders are ready for the floor, grouping jobs by thickness and grade for maximum efficiency. Update job statuses in the schedule and notify the team of under-scheduled jobs. Provide technical troubleshooting support to plasma operators regarding programming errors.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
