The CAD Technician plays a critical role in bridging the gap between customer purchase orders and the production floor. This position is responsible for preparing precise and accurate drawings, processing orders, and ensuring all necessary information is complete and correct before production begins. The CAD Technician collaborates across departments to ensure work instructions are clear, potential issues are proactively addressed, and production runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
Drawing Preparation
Create detailed in-house drawings from customer-submitted data using AutoCAD, ensuring accurate documentation of measurements and product features.
Review sketches, notes, shop drawings, and diagrams to verify dimensions, angles, allowances, and hole placements align with manufacturing capabilities.
Communicate with customers to clarify drawing details, resolve discrepancies, and ensure manufacturability.
Escalate unresolved issues to the sales team for resolution.
Utilize digitizing technology to trace templates and generate virtual images for fabrication programs.
PLC Programming
Develop customized Forcam machine language programs to support the production of fabricated glass products.
Order Processing:
Accurately enter customer purchase orders within designated processing timelines.
Collaborate with customers to confirm order details and resolve issues proactively.
Understand the manufacturing process and translate customer requirements into factory-ready instructions.
Perform administrative tasks including printing and emailing order confirmations and maintaining organized customer files.
Work closely with the order entry and sales teams to address incomplete or inaccurate orders.
Champion "end-to-end customer care" throughout the order lifecycle.
Other Duties:
Participate in cross-functional projects and support additional tasks as required.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Training)
Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience using AutoCAD in a professional setting.
Diploma or certification in CAD, Drafting, or a related technical field.
Experience in glazier, installation, or the glass manufacturing industry is considered a strong asset.
Familiarity with digitizing tools and PLC programming is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a structured, deadline-driven environment.

Proficient with Fenevision and AutoCAD software.

Working Conditions
While primarily office-based, this role requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor to ensure alignment between design specifications and production execution.

+ Frequent, short periods when it is necessary to pay close attention to the monitoring of sights and sounds.
