Job Description

Aplin has partnered with our client an Alberta-based consulting engineering firm that provides municipal and private industry engineering services for water, wastewater, and reuse water infrastructure to recruit a Certified Process Engineering Technologist for their office located in Edmonton, AB. This individual will work as a key member of the team to assist in the design and development of sketches, figures, P&IDs, and engineering design drawings for water and wastewater projects utilizing AutoCAD and Inventor.

Key Role & Responsibilities:

• Develop engineering drawings and engineering details.
• Design water and wastewater systems including equipment selection and sizing.
• Coordinate with the engineering team and drafting team to develop detailed design drawings.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline drafting teams / sub-consultants.
• Prepare design drawings, including process flow diagrams, process piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment layouts.

• Project types will include Raw water intakes, raw water ponds, raw water pump stations, and raw water transmission pipelines. Water treatment plants, water distribution pump stations, water distribution pipelines, including related water treatment equipment/systems, chemical feed systems, and water truck haul systems. Sanitary wastewater lift stations, wastewater force mains, wastewater collection systems, wastewater lagoons, and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Civil site development for the above-noted project types, including site grading plans and site utility plans process flow diagrams, P&IDs (process piping and instrumentation diagrams), and mechanical equipment layouts.

Qualifications:

• Qualified candidates will hold a diploma in Engineering Design Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology from NAIT or an equivalent program from another technical institution.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in municipal consulting engineering, preferably in water and wastewater areas of practice.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Inventor (or other 3D modeling tools).
