Telecon provides turnkey solutions for building, maintaining, and repairing underground, aerial, indoor and wireless telecommunication networks. There are nearly 2,500 passionate Telecon employees who work across North America to provide the engineering design solutions, installation, construction, verification, and maintenance services for cabled and wireless networks.

Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the Jetter 1 will assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatuses to support the Expercom Civil Team.

Responsibilities

• Fully proficient in interpreting blueprints or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to Telecon's health and safety policy
• Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fibre optic telecommunication cables
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment
• Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays
• Able to guide and mentor inexperienced employees
• Work with underground cable placing equipment (Jetting equipment)
• Understand handling principles of fibre optic cable and micro fibre cable
• Trouble shoot networking and design plans and identify roadblocks prior to installation
• Ability to track and manage materials related to work function
• Other duties as required

Qualifications

• +3 years of previous experience in a similar role
• Experience working with Jetting equipment an asset
• High school diploma
• Valid Ontario driver's license with clean driving record
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
• Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
• Basic knowledge of fibre optic cable prepping and splicing an asset.
