As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated and skilled Millwork Finisher & Coating Specialist to join our team.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, mechanically inclined CNC Operator with a strong understanding of cabinetry and millwork production. The successful candidate will be responsible for material receiving, CNC operation, edgebander operation, and routine equipment maintenance. This role requires technical aptitude, the ability to read shop drawings, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
There is opportunity for advancement into a Lead-Hand / Team Lead role. Training will be provided where required.
Key Responsibilities:
CNC Production & Machining:
Operate CNC routers to produce cabinetry and millwork components
Run and verify CNC programs, perform setup, testing, and tool/bit changes
Monitor machine performance and adjust parameters to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Inspect finished parts to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards
Identify and troubleshoot basic machine, tooling, or material issues
Properly label, stack, and stage parts for downstream processes
Edgebander Operation
Operate the edgebander to process CNC-cut parts and custom components
Perform setup, calibration, testing, and program adjustments
Ensure edge quality meets specifications and quality standards
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot the edgebander as required
Material Receiving & Inventory Management:
Safely unload delivery trucks using a forklift
Receive and verify sheet goods against purchase orders
Inspect incoming materials for damage, defects, or imperfections
Measure and caliper sheet thicknesses and report discrepancies to the office/engineering team
Accurately track and manage sheet goods inventory
Maintain organized, clearly labeled material storage areas
Production Support & Collaboration:
Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, cut lists, and production documentation
Work closely with the Production Manager and Engineering team to resolve issues
Proactively communicate material, program, or production concerns
Track and report daily production output
Maintenance & Safety:
Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration on CNC and edgebander equipment
Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of other shop machinery as required
Report mechanical issues, tooling wear, or safety concerns promptly
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all company policies and Ministry of Labour health and safety standards
Qualifications:
(Preferred, but willing to train the right candidate)
2-3 years of experience in a wood, cabinetry, or millwork production environment
Strong understanding of machining methods, cutting qualities of sheet goods and solid wood, and tooling
Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
G-code and M-code fluency, with the ability to edit programs
Experience using precision measuring tools and gauges
Experience with Fanuc controls
Forklift operator certification (or willingness to obtain)
Physically capable of working in a fast-paced production environment
Highly organized with strong documentation and record-keeping skills
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Positive attitude, reliability, and attention to detail
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Assets (Preferred, Not Required):
Experience with nested-based manufacturing or production optimization
Prior experience in a custom cabinetry or architectural millwork setting
Lean manufacturing principles
