Bylaw Enforcement Officer
(Temporary/Full Time - Exempt)The Town of Oliver is looking to attract a temporary Bylaw Enforcement Officer from mid-May until the end of August 2023.
Reporting to the Bylaw Enforcement Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing inspectional, regulatory and investigational work in support of the enforcement of Town Bylaws. This position will also be responsible for assisting with the enforcement of the Town\xe2\x80\x99s Animal Control bylaw, including impounding and caring for animals and maintenance of the Town Dog Pound.
Experience and qualifications we are seeking include:
- Experience and formal training in bylaw enforcement and animal control, or similar fields such as education, community outreach and engagement, social work/welfare, etc.
- Outstanding communication, empathy, de-escalation and conflict resolution skills.
- A personable, positive and calm demeanour.
- Excellent investigative, analytical and report writing skills.
- Preference may be given to those with local government experience.
- Must be comfortable patrolling parks and other public areas with the use of an e-bike and to work alone often.

This is an exempt position that offers a competitive hourly wage + 14% in lieu of benefits and holidays. Irregular work hours (evenings and weekends) and call-outs will be required.
