Principal Responsibilities \xc2\xb7 Monitor and walk the beach promenade for Bylaw violations such as the Park and Regulation\xe2\x80\x99s Bylaw (I.e. Alcohol consumption, large tents, off- leash dogs, charcoal BBQs, etc.) \xc2\xb7 Monitor and issue violation tickets for parking infractions in the 2hr parking lot, 15minutue parking lot and boat launch parking lot; Highway and Traffic Bylaw \xc2\xb7 Making a noticeable presence in the Village \xc2\xb7 Responding to Bylaw complaints as directed from the senior Bylaw Officer \xc2\xb7 Daily reports on patrols conducted that day \xc2\xb7 Engage and communicate with the patrons in the Village in a kind and respectful manor \xc2\xb7 Wears issued apparel and keeps uniform in a neat and tidy appearance \xc2\xb7 Collect ticket book, camera, tire chalk and other necessities before each shift from the Bylaw Office and return them at the end of your shift \xc2\xb7 Signing in and out at the beginning and end of each shift Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to function efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with municipal officials, other employees, RCMP members and to meet and successfully serve the public on a continuing basis.
  • Ability to use sound judgment when identifying, mediating and resolving a bylaw infractions and utilizing conflict resolutions skills when dealing with hostile individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of matters as required.
  • Ability to effectively read and interpret bylaws.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent teambuilding skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors for hours in all weather conditions.
Education, Work Experience, Required Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent, supplemented with Level I Bylaw Enforcement and Investigating Skills course or related experience is ideal.
  • Valid BC drivers licence.
  • Completion of a criminal record check.
  • Be physically fit and able to patrol areas by foot and bike throughout the entire duration of the scheduled shift.

Contract length: 4 months
Part-time hours: 14-30 per week Salary: $19.00-$22.00 per hour Schedule:
