What is Required for the Position



Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field Minimum of 5 years experience in a procurement or buyer role, ideally within the construction or infrastructure industry Strong negotiation skills and supplier management experience Familiarity with procurement and inventory management systems (e.g., Vista, Excel, or similar) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook) Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of construction materials and equipment is a strong asset

The Job



The Procurement Specialist / Buyer is responsible for the end-to-end purchasing of materials, equipment, and services that support field operations and corporate functions. This role requires close coordination with site teams, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality procurement aligned with project timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities



Strategic Purchasing & Vendor Relations



Source and purchase construction materials, equipment, and services in alignment with project requirements. Research and evaluate suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and implement cost-saving initiatives. Track and maintain supplier performance metrics (KPIs) and enforce compliance with contractual obligations.

Operational Procurement Support



Collaborate with field supervisors, project managers, and the yard team to coordinate and fulfill daily material requests. Review and analyze procurement requests, validate specifications, and issue purchase orders. Maintain strong relationships with vendors to resolve discrepancies, expedite orders, and ensure timely deliveries.

Inventory & Equipment Management



Monitor and manage inventory levels; coordinate with the Yard Supervisor to track returns and consumables. Forecast procurement needs based on project timelines and anticipated demand. Support rental tracking and equipment logistics with project and yard teams.

Administrative & Reporting Tasks



Maintain up-to-date procurement records, including POs, invoices, delivery tickets, and pricing files. Reconcile invoice discrepancies in coordination with accounting and vendors. Prepare and issue regular purchasing reports, material usage summaries, and cost analysis data. Coordinate asset documentation, warranty tracking, and maintenance scheduling.
